Its not notchy at all and no problem engaging gears, you just need to use a bit more force to move it around the gate. Doesn't make any difference whether car is cold or warm. Clutch fine. Hi I had this hesitation stutter on my 1.1 crdi Rio 2013, I got it between 3000 and 3500 revs it turned out to be the egr valve, had it replaced and all is well, not cheap at nearly £700 fitted and ecu reset, they also found a broken wire on the gearbox and the ISG now works perfectly. Cheers Barry. You will sometimes find that reverse gear will resist engagement, simply because the gears aren't aligned properly. Releasing the clutch briefly will stir things up enough to permit engagement, but that is not your problem. Opinions vary on manual transmission fluid replacement. Using a transmission jack, support the gearbox, undo the final bell housing bolts and ease the gearbox away from the engine.
